Story
Embarking on my professional journey within the medical sciences and the visual arts, my fascination with the human form naturally evolved into a pursuit of art in the medical sciences. After graduation with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Father Muller’s Medical College, Mangalore, I briefly ventured as a freelance artist for a year to give art a chance. I started to teach perspective drawing to NATA aspirants at DQ labs in 2019. Since then, I realised my keen passion and knack in being an educator. During that time, I also carried out several art workshops in different formats: watercolour, plein air sketching, anamorphic art/3D perspective art, and took up several commissioned visual art projects.
My decision to specialize in anatomy was driven by the belief that it offers an ideal canvas for applying my keen visual observation skills, technical adaptibilty and creative intuition. I graduated in 2024 with a MD (Doctor of Medicine) specializing in Anatomy, from St John’s Medical College, Bangalore.
During my dissections, I paid close attention to the colours, textures and organizational frameworks of human cadavers, challenging most paradigms in anatomy, and spent much of my time revaluating the style and visual language of medical illustrations which were popular. I noticed there was much work to be done in this area, and the need for specialists who are experienced both in the medical field and visual art practice. The experiential knowledge I derived from my dissections, now provides a unique and much needed way of seeing, and I strive to be an artist who carries that process with me, to understand the unique needs of physicians, surgeons and the scientific community.
I also dabble in various traditional and digital mediums for those who’d be interested to explore the visual worlds I create.

In this photo, captured by a workshop participant, I am introducing medical students to the art of still-life drawing. This session was part of a larger series aimed at using drawing and art to enhance visual-spatial skills and explore its impact on learning anatomy. It was conducted as part of my MD dissertation. This photograph was taken during the 3D Anamorphic art workshop delivered by me at DQ labs, Mangalore. The participants flanked on either side of me were busy working on the corner wall of the classroom, eventually leading up to an optical 3D illusion.

Consciously posing for a piece I painted for a group art exhibition at Kadri Rocks Art Gallery, Mangalore.

Photograph where I’m sketching a part of the 3D Interactive Anamorphic art installation at St John’s Medical College, for thier national cultural fest called Autumn Muse in 2022. This was made possible thanks to the brilliant team of medical students who equallly contributed and executed the project.
